AI Translator:
Text and Documents, With the Model You Choose

The AI translator in Secret Chat AI turns text or an attached document into the language you choose. It is made for people who need a usable translation without opening separate accounts with several model providers. You choose one of six model rows, and the translated file is built in your browser as Markdown or DOCX.

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Grok are trademarks of their respective owners (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and xAI). Secret Chat AI is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of them. See our Disclaimers.

How the AI translation tool works

  1. Open the app and select Translator from the Generators group in the model list at the top. The group appears after Image.
  2. Choose a model row. A new translator chat opens with the controls in its welcome message.
  3. Set the target language, translation style and whether you want translator's notes. The app remembers these settings in your browser.
  4. Paste text, attach a file, or write a request in any language. Then press Generate.
  5. Read the result in the chat card. Copy it or download Markdown or DOCX.

It runs inside the same chat you use for everything else. It also works from project files. The source is structured from what you provide; it is never looked up.

Translate text in 80 languages

The language picker covers 80 languages, while the source language can stay on automatic detection. Paste a sentence, a long exchange or several labeled passages. The result follows the language you selected, even when your request is written in another language.

The style control tells the model whether to favor ordinary phrasing, close correspondence, formal wording or casual speech. That is the difference from a word-for-word substitution box.

Translate a document

Use the document translator for a DOCX, PDF, spreadsheet or image with text. Attach the file to the request, choose the target language and describe any terms that must stay unchanged. It can also work from a project file.

The result has buttons for Copy, Markdown and DOCX. Headings, paragraphs and lists can carry into the new document, but an exact copy of the source layout is not guaranteed. If your aim is to translate a document online and keep a polished page design, expect to check spacing and page breaks in Word afterward.

Natural, literal, formal or casual

Natural is the general setting. It favors language that a fluent speaker would normally use. Literal stays closer to the source and is useful when you need to compare wording line by line, though the result may sound stiff.

Choose Formal for business correspondence, reports and careful public text. Choose Casual for messages, captions and conversation. This setting changes the register, not the facts or intent in the source.

Translator's notes

Some sentences have more than one reasonable reading. Turn on translator's notes to get one to three short comments about an ambiguity, idiom or term that could be translated another way. The notes appear separately and are never included when you copy the translated text.

That separation matters when the output must be clean enough to paste at once. You can still use a note to revise the request, add context and generate a better second version.

What you can download

Copy the translated text directly, save it as Markdown, or download a DOCX file. The file is assembled in your browser. There is no PDF download for this generator, though you can open the DOCX in a word processor and export it yourself.

Which model translates best

There is no single best row for every language pair. Each row is fixed, so you know which model will handle the request. The stronger tiers, ChatGPT Terra and Claude Sonnet, are available for nuance when phrasing or context needs closer attention.

  • ChatGPT Luna — a direct choice for routine text.
  • Claude Haiku — a light Claude option for straightforward translation.
  • Gemini Flash — a quick Gemini row for ordinary passages.
  • Grok — the fixed Grok row.
  • ChatGPT Terra — a stronger tier for context-sensitive wording.
  • Claude Sonnet — a stronger tier for passages where tone and ambiguity matter.

You can regenerate with another row when a phrase deserves a second reading.

What it costs

The Translator runs on paid models and uses credits. The daily chat quota does not cover generators. The exact charge appears under the answer, and the pricing page explains credit packs and subscriptions.

Why translate through Secret Chat AI

We store nothing on our side: there is no archive of chats or files, and the task row exists only while the answer is produced. Your result and generator settings remain in your own browser. You do not need an account with the model provider.

Your request reaches the provider anonymously, as a stranger's request, with no profile or chat associated with you. Your email is used only for Secret Chat AI account access and payment. We never use your text or files for training.

Secret Chat AI removes you from your queries — it does not remove the data from your messages. Whatever you paste or attach is sent verbatim to the chosen provider. Leave out names and identifiers when the translation does not require them.

Other generators and private AI chat

Browse the generators hub, draft the source message with the Email generator, or turn translated material into a longer piece with the Article generator. The features page covers the rest of the app. For an ordinary conversation with a model, open private AI chat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ChatGPT a good translator?
Yes, ChatGPT is suitable for most everyday and business text. For wording with subtle context, try a stronger tier such as ChatGPT Terra or Claude Sonnet. Use a qualified human translator for legal or medical material where a small error could matter.
Can it translate a PDF or Word file?
Yes. Attach a PDF or DOCX file and ask for the target language. You can also attach a spreadsheet or an image that contains text.
Does the document translator keep the formatting?
It preserves the document structure in Markdown or DOCX where possible, including headings, paragraphs and lists. An exact copy of the original page layout is not guaranteed, so check the downloaded file before you use it.
Which languages are supported?
The Translate to setting offers 80 languages. You can leave the source language unspecified because the translator reads it from the text or attached document.
Is my text used to train the models?
No. Secret Chat AI does not use your text or translations for training. The text is still sent verbatim to the model provider you choose, so remove names and other identifiers before sending when they are not needed.
Can I translate a whole conversation?
Yes. Paste the conversation into the request and say which language you want. Speaker labels help the model preserve who said each line.
