The AI image editor in Secret Chat AI handles three common jobs in the same chat: edit an image with AI from a written instruction, remove its background, or upscale it. Start with a picture from your device or one you just generated. The result appears as another image card, ready to download or edit again.

Edit an image with a prompt
To use the AI photo editor on a file of your own, open the Image Generator, attach the picture with the paperclip, and describe the change. If the picture is already in the chat, press the Edit pencil beneath it. The image is placed in the message box, where you can write something direct such as “make the coat blue,” “replace the cloudy sky with a clear evening,” or “remove the words in the corner.” Send the message to generate the revised picture.
Image-to-image editing is available on GPT Image Flare, GPT Image Sunburst, Nano Banana, Grok Imagine, Seedream, and Qwen. These models redraw the source rather than changing a fixed set of pixels. That freedom is useful for a substantial restyle or an AI background changer, but parts you did not mention can shift slightly. Check faces, small lettering, patterns, and object edges before treating the result as final.
You can make another edit with a short follow-up such as “make it blue.” Some image models accept only one self-contained prompt, so a small helper model folds the conversation into one complete description before the image request. That is why a brief follow-up can still refer to the picture and the earlier instruction. Models that read the conversation directly do not need that helper.
Remove a background with AI
The background remover is a preset: set Preset to Remove background in the image settings, attach the picture, and send. Under a generated image the eraser button does the same in one click. GPT Image Flare applies a fixed instruction to remove the background and redraws the subject on transparency. The result is a PNG with an alpha channel. The checkerboard in chat marks the area that will remain transparent when you download it.
You can do the same thing manually with any picture: attach it, choose GPT Image Flare, switch on Transparent background, and ask for the background to be removed. GPT Image Sunburst also has the transparency switch for prompted editing. Other models do not show that setting.
This is remove background AI, not a pixel-exact cut-out tool. It can work well for a product shot, sticker, or logo picture, particularly when the subject has a clear outline. The model may redraw fine details or alter an edge. Loose hair, glass, smoke, reflections, and translucent fabric are hard cases. Zoom in and check them. If exact preservation matters, use a conventional masking tool after the AI pass.
Upscale an image ×2 or ×4
Set Preset to Upscale ×2 or ×4 and attach the picture, or press the magnifier under a generated image and choose the factor. The Venice AI upscaler returns the same picture at a larger size, with no requested creative change. It is useful after you settle on a composition and need more pixels for a large screen or print. The result is a JPEG; a transparent PNG keeps its transparency. Every upscale opens in a chat of its own, so the large picture is not re-sent with every later message of the chat you were working in.
The input must be at least 256×256 pixels and under 25 MB. A ×4 request ordinarily makes each dimension four times larger, but the provider uses a smaller factor if the full result would exceed about 16.8 megapixels. ×4 costs four times as much as ×2, so check whether doubling the dimensions is already enough before choosing the larger image upscaler step.
The Upscaler is also the last item in the model list; picking it opens on Upscale ×2. To upscale an image from your device, attach it with the paperclip: the upscale starts as soon as the picture has loaded, with nothing to send. It reads no text. A written instruction will not turn an upscale into an edit; choose a generating model when you want the content changed.
Transparent background as a generation setting
GPT Image Flare and GPT Image Sunburst can create a transparent background PNG from the start. Turn on Transparent background before generating and describe a subject that makes sense without a scene, such as an isolated object, emblem, sticker, or character. The download retains transparency. With the switch off, the usual result is JPEG.
What this editor does not do
There is no outpainting or “expand image” control beyond the existing frame. There are no manual masks, editable layers, or batch processing for a folder of files. It also does not promise exact face retouching or unchanged identity. Every prompted edit is a new model result, and the source is a guide rather than a locked layer.
That boundary matters when choosing the tool. Use this editor when a natural-language change and a newly rendered result are acceptable. Use a layer-based editor when you need to preserve exact pixels, isolate part of a picture by hand, or prepare a production file with reversible edits.
What it costs

Privacy, stated honestly
We store nothing on our side: there is no archive of chats or pictures, and generated pictures live in your browser. There is no personal profile, no chat is associated with you, and the request reaches the model provider as a stranger's; your email is used only for account access and payment. Your material is never used for training.
Secret Chat AI removes you from your queries — it does not remove the data from your messages. An uploaded photo goes to the chosen provider verbatim, so leave out identifying material you do not want that provider to process.
