Uncensored LLM:
Abliterated AI Models Explained

An uncensored LLM is a language model, or a way of serving one, that refuses fewer lawful prompts. People usually seek one after a standard chatbot turns a difficult subject into a warning or declines useful work. The term is loose, though. It may describe different training data, edited model weights, or simply a hosted model behind a lighter moderation screen.

It does not mean an LLM with no restrictions. Secret Chat AI uses “uncensored” for a practical difference: fewer needless refusals in fiction, satire, dark themes, clinical or medical discussion, political analysis, and other creative work. The floor still applies. Sexual content involving minors, terrorism, and real threats of violence are blocked on every model. Each provider also keeps its own rules, so a request can still be refused.

How an Uncensored Model Is Made

There is no single recipe for an uncensored model. Three approaches show up often, and they work at different points in the model's life.

Fine-Tuning on Answers Instead of Refusals

A developer can fine-tune a base or instruction model on examples that answer prompts directly. That training changes which response patterns the model learns to continue. Research has also shown that fine-tuning on benign, commonly used datasets can weaken a model's safety alignment, though less than deliberately harmful data.

Abliteration

Abliteration changes the model more directly. Arditi and co-authors studied 13 open chat models and found that refusal behavior was mediated by a one-dimensional direction in each model's residual stream. Erasing that direction suppressed refusals, while adding it could make a model refuse harmless instructions. The result was a white-box intervention: it required access to the model itself, rather than a prompt trick.

Maxime Labonne's practical guide popularized the method, building on FailSpy's notebook and abliterator library. His workflow compares activations from harmful and harmless instruction sets, selects a refusal direction, then changes the weights so the model cannot write along that direction. In plainer language, an abliterated LLM has part of its learned refusal mechanism removed from its weights.

That edit is not free of trade-offs. Labonne's example lost performance across its benchmark set after abliteration. Further preference training recovered most, but not all, of the loss. An abliterated model therefore needs to be judged on ordinary questions as well as refusal tests. A low refusal rate says little about writing, reasoning, or factual accuracy.

A Hosted Model With Lighter Moderation

The third route leaves the weights alone. A service can offer a model whose provider is already more permissive, then use a lighter outer screen for lawful work. This is how the Uncensored level in Secret Chat AI works for Grok and DeepSeek USA. The request still passes through an automatic screen before it reaches the model. The difference is where that screen draws its line.

These approaches can overlap. A hosted service may serve an abliterated model, and that model may have been fine-tuned after its weights were edited. “Unfiltered LLM,” “unrestricted LLM,” and “abliterated AI” are often used as if they meant the same thing. They do not. The model, its training, the host's screen, and the provider's rules are separate layers.

What an Abliterated Model Changes

A refusal direction is not a list of banned words stored in one neat place. It is a pattern in the model's internal activations. The research found that suppressing one direction could make refusals disappear across many prompts. That helps explain why an abliterated model may answer a request that its original instruction-tuned model declines.

It also explains the main risk. Editing a direction in the weights can affect more than the sentence “I can't help with that.” The model may become less consistent, lose some benchmark performance, or answer when a refusal would have been appropriate. Abliteration changes behavior; it does not make an answer true, careful, or legal.

For that reason, “LLM no restrictions” is a poor description even when people type it into search. A useful unrestricted model still needs product-level limits, provider rules, and a person checking the answer. Fewer refusals can make a tool less frustrating. They do not remove the need for judgment.

GLM Abliterated in Secret Chat AI

Secret Chat AI offers GLM Abliterated, Abliteration AI's abliterated and fine-tuned version of the open GLM model from Zhipu (Z.ai). Secret Chat AI is independent and is not affiliated with Z.ai or Abliteration AI.

It has Smart Agentic, Fast Chat, Web Search, Research, and Create Image modes, and reads pictures and documents (PDFs as extracted text). Its web search goes through an unnamed third-party search provider that sits outside Abliteration AI's no-storage statement. The GLM Abliterated guide covers its modes, documents, Venice fallback, and search limits.

Grok and DeepSeek on the Uncensored Level

GLM Abliterated is not the only choice. Grok and DeepSeek USA also carry the flame mark. Grok can search the web, read attachments, and create images. DeepSeek USA is text only, has no web search, and runs through US-headquartered providers rather than DeepSeek's own API.

These models behave differently even under the same moderation level. If one gives a weak answer or refuses, switch models in the same chat. The whole conversation is sent to the new provider, so remove identifying details before switching if those details should not go there. The uncensored chatbot guide explains how the level works in everyday use.

Run an Abliterated LLM Locally or Use a Hosted One?

Running an open abliterated model locally gives you direct control over the model file, inference settings, and outer moderation. It also leaves setup, hardware limits, updates, and testing to you. Labonne's guide uses specialist libraries to edit weights and points readers to quantized builds for local model apps. This route suits people who want to manage the stack themselves.

A hosted model removes that setup. In Secret Chat AI, you choose GLM Abliterated, Grok, or DeepSeek from one model list and pay as you go from a prepaid dollar balance. There is no subscription. Hosting also means the prompt has to leave your device and reach third parties. That limit matters more than convenience when a message contains identifying material.

Privacy Limits of Any Hosted Uncensored LLM

Every prompt, picture, and document sent through Secret Chat AI goes verbatim to a third-party model provider. The OpenAI moderation classifier also sees the content before it is sent. We do not control what happens inside those systems, and provider retention may apply. Removing names and sensitive details before sending is your responsibility.

Our promises are narrower. Secret Chat AI stores no chat archive on its side. History lives in your browser and is not encrypted at rest. We build no profile of you, and providers see our service rather than the person asking. Your material is never used for training.

Secret Chat AI removes you from your queries — it does not remove the data from your messages. Start with the uncensored AI guide, then compare the available text models before choosing one for the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an uncensored LLM?
It is a language model or hosted model setup that is less likely to refuse lawful prompts because of broad topic filters. It can still have firm safety limits and provider rules.
Which uncensored models are available in Secret Chat AI?
Grok, DeepSeek USA, and GLM Abliterated use the Uncensored moderation level and carry a flame mark in the model list.
Is GLM Abliterated an abliterated model?
Yes. Abliteration AI says it started from the open GLM model and abliterated it, taking the refusal directions out of the weights.
Does uncensored mean no restrictions?
No. The same hard safety floor applies on every model, and a provider may refuse other requests under its own rules.
Does Secret Chat AI store my uncensored chats?
No chat archive is stored on our side. History stays in your browser, where it is not encrypted at rest and does not sync to another device.
Do I need a subscription to use an uncensored model?
No. Secret Chat AI uses a prepaid dollar balance with no subscription, and the balance never expires.
